Gloria Velazquez, Secretary of the Puerto Rico Shipping Association Board of Directors, was born and raised in Queens, New York, and obtained her Secretarial Business Degree at Betty Owen Secretarial School located in New York City. Gloria was relocated to Puerto Rico in 1977 and her first job on the island was Traffic Manager for Puerto Nuevo Hardware & Overseas Lumber located in Caguas, PR.  Then, in 1987 she was contracted as Office Manager for Carolina Freight Carriers and promoted to General Manager.  In 1997 she opened an NVOCC in the South-Eastern part of the United States becoming the first female General Manager to be appointed in the company that exists in the United States since 1950.

Nowadays, Gloria Velazquez is the General Manager for two of the International Shipping Agency subsidiaries.  From 2006 for Sea Air Systems, Inc. and from 2016 for Oceanic General Agency Inc. Gloria has more than 43 years of experience in the logistics & shipping industry.  She is a member of USCG.
