Jose Francisco Nazario
President of the Puerto Rico Shipping Association
José Francisco Nazario, a distinguished figure in Puerto Rico’s maritime industry, brings over four decades of experience to his role as President of the Puerto Rico Shipping Association (PRSA). His extensive career has solidified his reputation as one of the island’s most knowledgeable and influential executives in ocean shipping and logistics.
Beginning his career in 1981 at Navieras de Puerto Rico, Mr. Nazario quickly advanced within the maritime sector. He gained valuable experience as an Operations Trainee at the Port of New Orleans, which laid the foundation for his cargo operations expertise. In 1985, he joined Crowley, where he has held various positions, including Manager of Caribbean Islands Operations and Port Director of San Juan Terminal Operations. As Senior Director of Crowley Logistics, based in San Juan, he has been instrumental in overseeing operations at the Isla Grande Terminal, ensuring efficient and timely cargo handling for customers.
Mr. Nazario’s commitment to the maritime industry is evident through his active participation in PRSA. Prior to his current presidency, he served as Vice President and Secretary of the association. His leadership within PRSA reflects his dedication to addressing common issues affecting stevedoring and shipping companies, their agents, and suppliers operating in Puerto Rico.
As President of PRSA, Mr. Nazario aims to leverage his extensive experience to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Puerto Rico’s port facilities. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the association’s role in advocating for the maritime industry’s interests and contributing to the island’s economic development. Known for his expertise and dedication, Mr. Nazario’s career is marked by a commitment to operational excellence and a deep understanding of the maritime sector’s critical role in Puerto Rico’s economy.
Mr. Nazario earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico.
